From the littlest fresh hatched chicks to the Giant Chicken Frying Pan, this was a celebration of all
things "broiler." We had a somewhat interesting chat about breeds with a woman named Brigid ("there IS only
one breed of broiler"), we had a fine time with the Maryland Cooperative Extension. We had a chance to guess how many kernels of corn were in the jar, we had some fried chicken, listening to a country-western
band. We had a thorough drenching and a time-out for a tornado warning. (Chicken-Licken, the sky is falling!) Can you imagine a tornado hitting the giant fry pan?
Sounds like a bad joke. We also struck a motherload of chicken recipes, gratis of the biennial National Chicken Cooking Contest. A few of the recipes that caught our eye, supplemented by others that our locals have passed along, are here.
